NWEA Map Test

We give students MAP Growth tests to determine their level of instruction and measure academic growth during the school year in Language Arts, Math, Spanish, and Science.

MAP Growth tests are unique because they are tailored children’s learning level. If the student answers one question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This results in a detailed picture of what students know and are ready to learn, whether they are at, above, or below their grade level.

Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about students’ learning, it’s easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores who are usually ready to receive instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.

MAP growth reports also provide typical growth data for students who are in the same grade, subject, and have the same initial level of performance. Each school year, students in the Kindergarten, Elementary, and Secondary grades take the MAP tests 3 times: at the beginning of the school year, in the middle of the year, and during the last month of school. After each probationary period, parents will receive a report showing their children’s growth, which can be reviewed with their teacher(s) for more information.
